Abstract
As the title implies the article describes the main directions of the healthcare reform in Russia at the modern stage of development. Attempts are made to analyze and formulate the major problem areas and possible ways of their solution on basis of normative legal acts and views of leading experts in the field. So there’re three main problems of Russian healthcare: insufficient financing of the branch, the imperfection of the normative and legal base in the sphere of delimitation of paid medical services and free medical care to citizens, protection of patients from medical errors. It should be stressed that especially acute problem of underfunding the healthcare system. The Russia’s level of expenditures on health doesn’t meet the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). And it has a negative impact on the quality of provided medical services to the population of our country.
