Abstract
This thesis deals with the question to what extent the use of Twitter leads to a higher voter turnout. Besides, the thesis checks how strong the effect of the use of Twitter on voter turnout is among different age groups. To check if other third variables can also specify the relationship between use of Twitter and voter turnout,the consumption of traditonal media, political participation and socio-economic status are additionally analyzed.
