Abstract
The paper considers the main sources of uranium and its migration through different phases in the biosphere, its radiotoxicity and distribution within living organisms. The results of long the term investigations of uranium in our country in food and the 'soil-plant-honey' system are presented indicating the activity of uranium to be due to the geochemical features of soil, the physiological and morphological characteristics of plants and the type of honey. These results represent the 'zero state' for the evaluation of the risk and damage of uranium that entered the environment due to the use of ammunition with 'depleted uranium'.
