Abstract

Wcsludied Proterotoic metamorphicrocksofthc: Hecla Hoek Succession that we~collected from thearea between ToreUbrecn and Hornsund, SpilSbcrgen. We analyzed schiSiSoflhe Vimsodden Subgroup which occurs bet~en Werenskioldbreen and Vimsoddcn. Analyzed rocb include quanz-mica black sclli~ts, caroonate.quartt·mica black s<:hists and light quartt-sericite s<:hists . Black schists life fineblastic assemblages of quartz, muscovite, paragonite, chlorite, chloritoide, with n rnetaanthracite-semigrnphite pigment. As accessory mineral s pyrit e, z.ircon, and \otlimaJine were found. The schists prob:lbly rep~5Cnt bituminous clay shales metamorphosed il) I WO slates: in albite-epidote-amphibolite facies, then in greenschist facies. The REB CQncentr.ltion is gel\t:rally liigherin tlie black schists than in othcrschiSl~ oftlie Vimsodden Subgroup. HREE abundances in blnck quartz-mica schislS ;lJ'!I similar 10 those in li ght quartz-sericite schists.
