Adoption of organic farming practices by the farmers of Andhra Pradesh

A study was conducted to assess the extent of adoption of organic crop production standards by the farmers and to analyze the relationship between the extent of adoption and profile characteristics of the respondent farmers. Majority of the organic farmers were grouped under medium category of adoption, followed by low and high categories. Six independent variables influenced the extent of adoption significantly. Situational variables namely, access to natural resources and access to market were correlated positively at 0.001 per cent level of probability, whereas in case of personal variables, family size was found to be correlated positively at 0.05 per cent probability. Socio-economic variables namely, farm size, herd size and annual family income correlated positively at 0.01 per cent level of probability.
