Abstract
The present study was conducted to estimate the extent of heterosis and combining ability for various yield and yield component traits using line x tester analysis during Kharif 2013 and Kharif 2014 in Randomized Block Design with three replications. Seven lines and three testers were used in crossing programme to obtain the 21 crosses. Analysis of variance for almost all the yield and yield component traits studied were found significant. Among the parents the positive significant GCA effect for seed yield per plant were exhibited by parents ML-10-29VL, TM07280 and OP16073. Out of 21 crosses, five crosses were identified as good specific for seed yield per plant. The contribution of line x testers was higher than corresponding contribution of lines and testers for all the characters studied, except flag leaf width.
