Stylistic Analysis of Two Translated Chinese Versions of “The Psalm of Life”

poem The psalm of lifewritten by American writer Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is thefirst English poem translated into Chinese. Its simple and forceful language, sincere emotion and smooth rhythmhave won appreciation from Chinese readers. This article tries to conduct a comparison and contrast of the two ver-sions through linguistic analysis, including stylistic features of phonological level, syntactic level and lexical level.This perspective opens up a new way to appreciate and evaluate translated poems on form and content.
