An Investigation into the Role of Corpus Linguistics in Language Teaching

Abstract

This article explores the features of corpus linguistics and its implication for language teaching. Through literature review, this paper points out that corpus linguistics plays an important role in the three major sections in language teaching, namely, materials development, classroom activities and language testing. In addition, the role of learner corpus in language teaching is also explored. The challenges facing the application of corpus linguistics into language teaching is finally discussed.
