Abstract

Three biochemical components viz., protein content, nitrogen content and total sugar content of different rice varieties were analyzed in laboratory of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry Department, of N. M. College of Agriculture, NAU, Navsari. Out of three two viz. protein and nitrogen content of rice varieties had significant positive correlation with ear head bug infestation. Protein content in varieties viz. IR-28 (8.12%), IR-50 (8.09%), Jaya (7.99%) and PRH-10(7.82%) was significantly higher and showed highly susceptible and susceptible reaction while it was significantly lower in varieties viz. GR-102 (4.54%), GR-12 (4.61%) and GR-101(4.65%) and showed moderate and slight resistance reaction. Nitrogen content in varieties viz. Jaya (1.34%), PRH-10 (1.31%), IR-50 (1.32%) and IR-28 (1.40%) was significantly higher and showed highly susceptible and susceptible reaction while it was significantly lower in variety GR-102 (0.79%) which showed moderately resistant reaction.
