Abstract
Bacteriophages isolated fromsputumand resection specimens ofpatients suffering fromcarcinoma ofthelungwerefound to lysecorynebacteria andmycobacteria, and toproduce a cytopathogenic effect on certain cells intissue cultures. Fromthe sameandother patients withneoplastic disease, bacteria wereisolated anddescribed ascoryne-mycobacteria because ofbacteriological features theyshared withboth species. These bacteria, whicheither were sensitive tomycobacteriophages andcorynebacteriophages orwerephage-immune lysogenie bacteria, could beinduced toproduce lytic particles withphagolytic activity on corynebacteria andmycobacteria anda cytopathogenic effect onHeLacells andon therenal cells ofCercopithecus.
