Abstract
A epiphysiolysis is a fracture that occurs at the level of the growth plate that engages the physis, metaphysis and epiphysis. The importance of these fractures lies in its complications, of which the most common is a catastrophic and blocking the growth of the affected physis which can cause irreversible damage but corrected in time. The resulting deformity is gradual until the completion of the development. Of the different studies it highlights the Salter and Harris doctors in 1963, which proposed a classification of epiphysiolysis that are five types, which are currently still being used. This study aims to determine the level of traumatic growth plate fractures in long bones in children considering the physis, metaphysis and epiphysis according to Salter and Harris classification. Besides describing the different types, incidence, diagnostic imaging, treatment and prognosis.
