Abstract
The opossum did not precisely adjust its caloric intake over all the experimental conditions. Rather, as levels of dilution and enrichment increased, the precision of caloric adjustment decreased. There was no increase in grams of food intake on diluted diets, but there was a decrease in grams of food intake with calorically enriched diets. However, this reduction in gram intake constituted an increase in caloric intake. The physical capacity of the digestive tract was not a limiting factor.
