Abstract
Girdling experiments with three varieties of grapes over an eightyear period verified earlier findings or hypotheses that: Carbohydrates are increased above the girdles and decreased in the roots. There is a sensitive time relation between girdling and maximum berry size in Thompson Seedless and between girdling and most rapid increase in maturation in Red Malaga and Ribier grapes. Girdling does not permanently weaken the vines.
