Recently, we developed the reciprocating Carnot magnetic refrigerator for He liquefaction in the temperature-range from ∼15 K to 4.2 K, using the Gd3Ga5O12(GGG) single crystal as the refrigerant. However, from the characteristics of the magneto-caloric effect of GGG, its refrigeration range was ristricted below ∼10 K as far as using the magnetic field of ∼4 T. In the present paper we have developed the new single crystal, Dy3Al5O12(DAG), as the refrigerant and also improved the refrigeration system. As the results, we have succeeded to liquefy the He gas from ∼20 K. The apparatus, its operating cycle and refrigeration efficiency will be shown.
