Aberrations in the Color of the Prairie Vole, Microtus Ochrogaster

Abstract

been reported for the following species of Microtus in North America: M. pennsylvanicus, M. californicus, M. montanus, and M. oeconomus (all in the subgenus Microtus), and M. ochrogaster (subgenus Pedomys, one case). An examination of approximately 900 specimens of Microtus ochrogaster, mainly from Kansas, in the University of Kansas Museum of Natural History, revealed only two additional aberrant specimens. The five are listed below.
