Behçet病は再発性口腔内アフタ性潰瘍，皮膚症状，外陰部潰瘍，眼病変を4主症状とする原因不明の炎症疾患である．特殊病型として，腸管の潰瘍性病変を示す腸管Behçet，大小の動静脈の病変をきたす血管Behçet，脳幹・小脳・大脳白質の病変を主体とする神経Behçetがあり，これらは患者の生命予後を左右することから，眼病変とともに極めて重要なウェートを占める．近年，新しい治療として難治性眼病変に対する抗TNF-α抗体（インフリキシマブ）の有用性が証明され，本邦で世界に先駆けて保険で承認された．インフリキシマブは，難治性である神経Behçetや腸管Behçetなどの特殊病型にも応用が期待される．
