Abstract
Congestion often occurs at bus stops during peak hours, since traffic flow and service frequency are very high near bus stop. Based on research of road traffic flow, the capacity model of bus stop is built in two steps after analyzing the operation rules in-out bus stop during peak hours. First, the formula of bus stop physical facility capacity is established. The formula of maximal arriving rate (bus stop capacity) is then solved based on obtaining the state equation's parameters by the analysis method of birth-death process. The numerical capacity tables of different berths anddwell time are calculated using Matlab. In addition, curve fitting formula is deduced from the table for application convenience, which provides a preference for the bus stop building and planning. Finally, a numerical example in City of Nanjing is presented to describe the method.
