Abstract
The programmed‐temperature‐vaporizing (PTV) injector has been used as a thermal desorption chamber for analysis of volatile sulfur compounds. A trap employing the solid adsorbent Tenax‐TA was used to enrich ambient levels of volatile sulfur compounds, then the sulfur gases were thermally released according to programmed temperature from the adsorbent trap and directly transferred to the system of PLOT‐column gas chromatography/flame‐photometric detector for analysis. The sulfur compounds known to cause nuisance odors in the air from various sewerage treatment tanks of a chemical petroleum company are determined.
