Suprascapular entrapment neuropathy in chronic dialysis patient. A report of five cases.

Five dialysis patients are described in whom symptoms of suprascapular nerve entrapment neuropathy developed with an average of 104.6 months after the formation of the fistula. The cardinal findings included pain in the shoulder, weakness and wasting of spinati muscles, and prolonged motor latencies of the suprascapular nerve to the spinati muscles. The transverse scapular ligament release was performed in all of our patients with relief of pain. The etiology of the entrapment neuropathy in dialysis patients is discussed.
