Abstract

Giant cell tumor of the scapula is very rare. A case of giant cell tumor in this bone treated by total scapulectomy is worth reporting. Fifty-two year old man was hospitalized on November 18th, 1974, because of pain, progressively increasing swelling and restriction of the left shoulder movement, noted for a year. Roentgenogram show an expansile osteolytic tumor involving most of the scapula. Histologically the tumor show grade I-II of the giant cell tumor. Acid phosphatase were histochemically exhibited high activity in the multinucleated giant cells of this tumor. The tumor cell were also electromicroscopically shown to be hyperactivity.
