Numbers 9, 10, and 11 Out;Chemist in Chemist's Job

SUCH diversified subjects as fire retardant paints, natural plant hydrocolloids, and literature resources have one thing in common: they are all specialized topics. While a general discussion of such subjects would be of some interest to the thousands of chemists and chemical engineers who read ACS publications, any detailed and comprehensive study of such specialized fields would be of major interest to a small percentage of the over-all ACS membership. To accomplish its objective of disseminating chemical knowledge, the ACS from time to time has initiated new publications. By 1949, with increasing numbers of symposia on specialized subjects being presented at national meetings, the question of where and how to publish such material became a serious one. Some symposia, while valuable, would be costly to print in ACS large-circulation journals and would be of value to a limited number of people.
