The effect of gibberellin A on the elongation of primary root of rice seedlings was studied under water culture conditions.Gibberellin A promoted the elongation of the root 10-15per cent during the early growth period. The elongation of the root induced by gibberellin A was not accompanied with the increase in dry weight.Gibberellin A3 restored the about 50per cent inhibition of the root elongation induced by 2, 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, but not the inhibition caused by 2, 4-dinitrophenol, coumarin and kinetin.Table 5. The effect of GA3 and kinetin on the length of primary Root of rice seedlings after about 2 days' growth.
