Abstract

The quality of shallow seismic reflection data acquired on land is highly dependent on the seismic characteristics of the uppermost few metres of the earth's surface, and these differ substantially from area to area. It is essential to optimize acquisition parameters in order to realize the objectives of such surveys and justify the effort and expense involved.
