Abstract

A new tilt-rotor UAV concept is proposed. Some results from the preliminary design study are presented. The flight mechanics equations for this tilt-rotor UAV are given. Trim flight conditions are obtained solving the optimization problems posed. For this purpose a trim program is written which uses an optimization routine. Various trim-flight conditions for hover, transition and cruise are obtained and the airplane stability at these particular flight conditions is discussed.
