Abstract
During a flea ecology study from January 1974 to January 1975, rodents were livetrapped in fifty-five 24-h periods and examined for ectoparasites in a foothills habitat in Larimer County, Colorado. The most commonly recovered rodents were Peromyscus maniculatus (1293), P. difficilis (143), and Neotoma mexicana (38). No host specificity was shown by the fleas of Peromyscus and associated small mammals. Marked seasonal variations in the percentage of P. maniculatus with fleas, numbers of fleas per mouse, and in specific composition of the flea population were noted.
