Abstract

Objective: Adult Still Disease (ASD), is a febrile, inflammatory and systemic disease. High fever, maculopapular rash, arthritis and arthralgia, splenomegaly, lenfadenopathy, and serositis are the most common features. The aim of the present study was to share the clinical experience of 12 patients with the diagnosis of ASD. Material and Method: The study was designed as a retrospective one searching the data of patients with the diagnosis of ASD during a five years period, 2007-2012. The records of the patients were examined, clinical features and laboratory findings were listed, and the results were interpreted. Results: A total of 12 patients with the diagnosis of ASD were investigated. Four patients were females and eight were males. Mean age was 34±12,3 and 42,5±17,5 years respectively. The most complaints of the patients were fever (100 %), arthralgia (66,7 %), myalgia (50 %), abdominal pain and rash (25 %), and sore throat (16,7 %); respectively. The most determined findings in physical examination were arthritis (41,7 %), splenomegaly and hepatomegaly (25 %), and lenfadenopathy (16,7 %), respectively. The most common laboratory findings were leukocytosis, thrombocytosis, and anemia; respectively. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein were high in all patients. It was established that the patients were observed during a one year period at least, of these patients, 10(83,3%) were in remission with indometazine and 2(16,7%) were in remission with predisolon and methotrexate combination. Conclusion: ASD is one of the diseases has to be come in mind in patients with fever, arthralgia, rash, and leukocytosis.
