Abstract
A method is presented for evaluating nearshore waves and currents as well as cross-shore distributions of longshore sand transport rate under conditions of obliquely incident regular waves. A set of Boussinesq-type wave equations is used for the computation of waves and currents in surf and swash zones. The longshore sand transport rate is computed using formulas proposed by Dibajnia and Watanabe. The validity of the present method is examined through comparisons of computed results for the waves, currents and longshore sand transport rates with laboratory experimental data.
