Onion thrips, Thrips tabaci (Lindeman) have caused a serious damage to fruit of Japanese persimmon, Diospyros kaki Thunb., (especially variety 'Tonewase') in August-September since 1999 in Wakayama Prefecture. Some organophosphates, acetamiprid, chlorphenapir and cartap were effective to T. tabaci, whereas some pyrethroids were less effective.
