Abstract
Eel serum (Anguilla vulgaris) has been examined using several electrophoretic technics such as paper, agar gel, starch gel, and double electrophoresis, and using immunological studies such as immunoelectrophoresis and the Ouchterlony diffusion test. Twenty-one components were observed. No γ2 globulin was seen in the normal sera but it appears after immunization of eel against human proteins. The serum of eels contains at least 12 immunologically different antigens to rabbits. We observed most individual electrophoretic differences in the β region of the protein pattern.
