Abstract
The production of oospores of homothallic and heterothallic species of Phytophthora in artificial media has been reported by several workers (1-13). The most common media used are oatmeal (1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 13), lima bean (6, 12, 13), hemp seed extract (3, 11), and V-8 juice agars (4, 5, 10, 12). Although good results have been obtained with these media, the presence of oospores cannot be detected without microscopic examination.
