Abstract
The actual throughput of container berth does exceed that of the original design at present in Chinese container terminal operations at present. It has been one of the core problems about how to exactly explain the phenomenon and further calculate the throughput capacity of a container terminal reasonably which is paid much attention to by the port and especially by the planning department and needs to be solved urgently. In the present paper, the systematic effect of the container terminal and its generation mechanism are analyzed from the developing trend of the following aspects: regularization of container shipping, the unitization of container berth, comparing the parameters of the present design code for ports in China. Based on the above, the deeply quantitative analysis about the effect on the throughput of the container terminal of these aspects is studied, which provides theoretical support for calculating the throughput capacity of a container terminal.
