Three Cases of Entrapment Neuropathy of the Sciatic Nerve under or Distal to the Piriformis Muscle

Abstract

We reported three operated cases who had the clinical symptoms of piriformis syndrome. Their sciatic nerves were compressed by piriformis muscle and its near portion. In case 1 a sciatic nerve was compressed by abnormal piriformis muscle; in case 2 by tension of gemelli with internal rotation of the hip joint; in case 3 by fibrous band which ran through two divided sciatic nerves.
