Abstract
ABSTRACT COTTON was trickle irrigated with 8.5 dS/m saline water on saline soil in the presence of a saline water table. The yields were equal to a well-watered check plot which was irrigated with non-saline water. Significant quantities of water were extracted from a shallow (1.5 m) saline water table. A 2.3 m lateral spacing did not result in reduced cotton yields when used in a field containing a shallow saline water table.
