Abstract
Recognizing the significance of the role of the human care service in Korean society, little empirical research has been conducted on the effects of job characteristics on the individual and organizational effectiveness. This paper investigated the influence of the sub construct of job characteristics on the job stain and turnover intention by using survey data of 201 human care service workers in Korea. The results of our empirical analysis are as follows. First, the paper shows that both task significance and job autonomy were negatively associated to the job strain. Second, they were also negatively related to turnover intension. Third, it is found that job strain had positive effect on turnover intension. These findings imply that managers require to set up the proper job design and organizational level support to improve task significance and job autonomy for better human care service. The findings were discussed along with managerial and theoretical implications and recommendations for future research.
