Suprasellar Arachnoid Cyst Complicated With Hydrocephalus

Abstract

A patient with suprasellar arachnoid cyst complicated with hydrocephalus was treated with cystoperitoneal (CP) shunting procedure. The successful outcome was demonstrated using magnetic resonance imaging system. In the present report, the pathogenesis of suprasellar arachnoid cysts and related surgical options were described, and a simplified CP shunting by craniotomy without remaining the valve was presented. CP shunting by craniotomy without remaining the valve may be applied for most patients with suprasellar arachnoid cysts.
