The decay of triboelectric charges on textile fabrics was analyzed in detail by the use of a static charge tester. The decay of triboelectric charges was measured in two situations, grounded and ungrounded-In case where fabrics were grounded, the charge dissipation by conduction to the earth was confirmed to be the free diffu sion of electric charges. On the other hand, in case where ungrounded, some water molecules were bound firmly within fibers not to contribute to discharges, and some other free might diffuse together with charges into the air to diminish the charges on fabrics.
