Open publisher page 3 citations

Abstract

In this article, the last in our four-part series on diagnostic parasitology, we review the parasitic organisms that tend to cause clinical disease in compromised hosts, particularly those with impaired immune systems. We describe the immune system components that are involved, specific parasites more likely to cause problems in these patients, the clinical presentations, and effective diagnostic methods.
