Abstract

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is considered the most common malignant salivary gland tumour. MEC constitutes 3–10% of all tumours of major salivary glands and 10–15% of tumours of minor salivary glands.1 It occurs most commonly in the parotid gland, with minor salivary glands of the palate being the second most common site.2 Within the oral cavity, MEC often resembles a mucocele.
