Electrocochleography in Ramsay Hunt Syndrome and Bell's Palsy.

Abstract

Five patients with Ramsay Hunt syndrome and 19 with Bell's palsy were examined by transtympanic electrocochleography. The mean value of the -SP/AP ratio was 0.31 in patients with Ramsay Hunt syndrome and 0.26 in those with Bell's palsy. Both of these values were normal, and the difference between them was not significant. These values indicate that endolymphatic hydrops is probably not present in patients with Ramsay Hunt syndrome or Bell's palsy.
