Dhoukani Flake Blade Production in Cyprus

Recent archaeological survey and ethnographic interview activities undertaken by the Canadian Palaipaphos Survey Project in Southwestern Cyprus have produced considerable new evidence hearing on the manufacture and use of threshing sledges (dhoukane). Details concerning all aspects of the associated chert knapping industry were acquired through interviews, while cores and debitage from ancient and recent workshop sites have been described utilizing both discrete and continuous (metric) attributes. These data should facilitate the identification of both the manufacturing debris and product of the Cypriote dhoukane flake biade industry.
