Abstract

SummaryMicroscopic examination of the serial sections of conducting phloem of Cassia species has revealed that the percentage of sieve-tube elements differs in the different species and the area occupied by them varies from 12 to 26%. The need for a thorough investigation of structural details of phloem as a prelude to physiological studies related to translocation is emphasized.
