Abstract

A case of bilateral femoral hernias in a child is reported. The case was a 7-year-old girl who noticed a right groin tumor in December, 1987. In March 1988, the tumor was diagnised as right external inguinal hernia, and was repaired by Potts method. However, the tumor did not disappear, and then, a left groin tumor appeared. Reoperation was performed for the bilateral femoral hernias in August 1989. At first, skin incision was performed for the right inguinal lesion, where a femoral hernia over the inguinal ligament was found. We pulled the hernia sac on the inguinal ligament, and resected it. Then inguinal canal was repaired by McVay method, followed by skin incision at the left inguinal lesion. The external inguinal hernia was seen. After ligation of the hernia sac, transverse fascia was incised. Then the femoral hernia revealed was repaired by McVay method.
