Abstract
Myocardial necrosis in humans was accompanied in over 90% of the cases studied by elevation of the serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase. Serum adenosine triphosphatase and serum lipoprotein lipase were not elevated. Within 36 hours after myocardial infarction the transaminase levels rose to 2-10 times normal and usually returned to normal within 5 days. The myocardial ischemia of angina pectoris was not accompanied by any elevation of transaminase levels.
