Abstract
The courtship and mating sequence of Anaphes sordidatus (Girault), an egg parasitoid of the carrot weevil, are described. Males exhibited distinct stages of excitation and display before copulation, but no overt courtship behavior by females was observed. Males readily mated more than once. Females mated only once, usually within 1–2 h after emergence from host eggs. Possible costs and benefits of immediate postemergence mating are discussed.
