Abstract

The response of the flame ionization detector to perfluorinated carboxylic acids was compared to the response of the thermal conductivity detector. The response of the corresponding hydrocarbon analogs was used as the basis for evaluating the efficiency of the flame ionization detector for the analysis of perfluorinated carboxylic acids. Possible explanations for variations in the response of the flame ionization detector are presented.
