(1) This report deals with the results of the morphological and cytological investigations of the F1 hybrids obtained from interspecific crosses between H.asper, H.cannabinus and H.sabdarlffa-namely, 5 F1 plants obtained from H.asper x H.cannabinus, 11F1 plants obtained from H. sabdariffa x H. asper and 4 F1 plants obtained from H. sabdariffa x H. cannabinus, through ovule and embryo culture. (2) From Table 1 it can be seen that almost all characteristics in tlle three kinds of F1 hybrids were either intermediate between or similar to one of the parents. (3) The chromosome numbers in root tips of H.asper, H.canna.binus and H.sabdarzffa were 2n=36, 2n=36 and 2n=72, respectively and their hybrids had 2n=36 in H.asper X H.cannabinus, 2n=54 in H.sabdarlffa x H.asper and 2n-54 in H.sabdarffa X H.cannabinus.
