Abstract

Ixodes (Ixodes) pararicinus, n. sp. (Acari: Ixodidae), is described from males and females collected on cattle and occasionally on horses in Argentina and Uruguay. For well over a century this new tick species has been confused with the common European tick, Ixodes ricinus.
