Pleomorphic adenoma of the apex of the tongue: Report of a case.

A rare case of pleomorphic adenoma of the apex of the tongue isreported. A patient, female aged 79 years, had an encapsulated mass, about 3 cm in diameter, on this part of her tongue.The mass that was well-demarcated and movable could be removed easily, and the clinical course was good with no evidence of recurrence. According to the clinicopathological examination, the tumor seemed to have originated from the anterior lingual gland.In the minor salivary glands, pleomorphic adenoma is most affected at the palate, and it occurs only infrequently at the tongue. To the knowledge of the authors, there have been only three reported cases of this tumor at the apex of the tongue, including the present case.
