Abstract

those individual plant species whose roots were excavated and cut and also from those that were burned whereas for those individuals that were only excavated without their roots being cut there were neither root suckers nor sprouts and L. edulis (Sond.)Engl. is indeed a root sucker. We therefore concluded that root suckering and sprouting of savanna plant species such as D. cinerea (L.) Wight & Arn is influenced by disturbances such as root severing, burning and stem cutting.
