Abstract

High-performance segmented-waveguide TM polarizer is proposed. Extinction ratio >30dB and insertion loss <0.1dB are predicted for a 27.4um device. The fabricated 144um device had 18-29dB extinction and 1.4-2.3dB insertion loss over 110nm bandwidth.
